Adding to my previous comment and having just watched the "sleep" ad I would not mind betting these don't make it to UK TV without major changes, have they seen any airtime yet?
Some bloke with an apparent "hard-on" gesticulating at the camera and faking an orgasm shouting "testify" is in my opinion neither particulary funny or good for the Vonage "brand".
If they do make airplay I bet the advertising authority get lots of complaints. |

for those of you who are into marketing, these are not tv commercials. they are virals and as such are not intended for television.
they are really funny--typical of the best of monty python and benny hill.
this british humour at its best. in fact i read one of the marketing magazines a couple of weeks ago and it has already been awarded as one of the best viral campaigns of the year.
the awards will come--just like they did for monty python in life of brian etc
eric idel and graham chapman would be proud! |

If you look here http://www.vonage.co.uk/gallery.php you can see what Vonage are officially saying is advertising in the UK (take a look Dan ...)
As for the "TV ads" - there are none on the "testifiable" Vonage website - I can't believe they would meet the Advertising Standards Authority requirements - erections, fun of the disabled - both not allowed.
I think the British would find it acceptable in a TV comedy show. Not in an ad. I'd be amused to be proven wrong! And I think the ads are fun. |
