Road Runner has rolled out their own Voip services in my area (as I mentioned earlier). Once they did that my outbound problems seemed to disappear.

I'm not sure if that this problem occurred because of the RR Voip installation phase or it is coincidental. I did change my router to a Netgear RP614v2, replacing the Linksys BEFSR41. The Linksys locked up on me twice during the problem days. I checked and upgraded the Linksys firmware, but experienced even more problems with chat programs.

So far so good. If I have anymore problems, I'll post them here.

RR did the same here. Where is "your area"? They provide another IP for their equipment for free (seems to be included in the high price of their service though). Now if Vonage would cut the advertising and lower their rates things would be awesome!

I live in Austin. Time Warner Road Runner is charging about $40/month for their service (which is similar to the premium Vonage service). As far as I can tell, they have no other options right now.

I only pay about $15/month for the limited Vonage service because I use my mobile phone as my primary number now. I think it's a wonderful deal for all the services you get and I was able to keep my phone number.

I know there are other Voip plans that are cheaper, but I don't think you can keep your phone number (maybe that's changed by now).

I live in Durham, NC and Time Warner is offering Voip service for $49.95 if you do not have their broadband and cable tv service. If you have both, then it is $39.95. However, the features are no where near as plentiful as Vonage has right now. They do, however, support E911 (but prob. b/c the adapter is a combo modem/VoIP device and thusly can only be used at your home). With all the new Voip services coming out, Vonage needs to do more to stay ahead of the pack with service, quality, features, and price.

I have a problem making outbound calls to anyone other than anybody in my area code.

Vonage customer support is total crap.

anybody have any suggestions, other than reset adapter?

need more explanation. what happens? you are using 10 or 11 digit dialing right? if just 10, try 11 and vice versa. are these international calls?

make the call rings once, and goes away... no sound, no nothing...

1+area+7 digit phone. Been with Vonage since dec 03' had same network. I can call anyone local, even local long distance, within my own area code # (425) everett, wa.

trying to call san antonio, tx (210), FL, (305), even (206) seattle which is only 30 miles away...

been on the hold wih Vonage support for 40 min. now.

Thank you for this thread. I also have (did have!) the PCX1100, since it's beginning. For the last 8 weeks sporadically, and the last 2 weeks intensely, I was getting choppy and outright cutoff audio from me to caller. As a troubleshooter i was convinced my hardware was ok (hey, either it works or it does not work!) but after reading your post and others i decided to get the Motorola SB5100. Got it hooked up and WORKS LIKE A CHARM! I am so happy i could cry. If anyone has a Toshiba PCX1100 and is having any issues at all with any broadband related technology, GET RID OF IT! Don't waste your time on any other troubleshooting step until you replace that modem.

Thanks again for those who use this forum. Such a great help!
