I have a Linksys rt31p2 behind a Netgear rt314 router. Now my calls cut out when making or receving. Anybody else use this router behind another router. I forwarded all the ports according to Vonage website, but no luck. |

I have my RT31P2 behind my Linksys WRT54G router, and everything works perfectly. The difference may be, that my WRT54G allows me to set QoS for the RT31P2 to give voice traffic highest priority, so no other traffic coming through the router will interfere. If you don't have QoS capability on your Netgear, then your other internet traffic may be interfering and causing the cutouts.
Reebok - there are very good reasons not to put the RT31P2 in front of the other router. The RT does not have a firewall, only the NAT translation, so is not nearly as secure as a good router like the WRT54G. Additionally, the RT's performance on routing is not nearly as robust as the WRT54G family, so putting the RT31P2 in front of it will result in compromises in both security and performance. |
