yep...otherwise it would be a pretty definitive list instead of a "you pretty much won't know unless..." list.

Ah! Sorry, I missed the implied "know" in your statement "pretty much won't", and I assumed you meant people would not have E911 unless they were on the list.

Ah, the joys of written-word communication. Wink

I just called 933 and it now tells me that "Enhanced 911 is enabled for this phone".

This is new...just a few days ago it was telling me that "911 is enabled". So it seems the 933 call DOES tell you if enhanced 911 is enabled.

Just for the record, I am in Fairfax Country, VA. So it looks like our area just got upgraded.

As long as you realize that cellphone 911 doesn't go to your local 911 center either.

Really.

In most states it goes to the state "Highway Patrol".

that's definitely not true where I live, and I wonder about "most states"
if you can provide documentation, do so.

I disabled international calling and then dialed 933 and got a message that international calling was disabled.

Am I nuts or is the emergency 911 service being administered from another continent?

Additionally when I enable international calling and dial 933 I don't get the message that international calling is disabled but am told that I have 911 service.

Can anyone tell me if disabling international calling might also disable the ability to make a 911 call ??? I really don't want to wait for an emergency to find out.

Luckily, I'm on the list (Massachusetts, Middlesex). But if I dial 933 from my home phone, I still get the same message that I have 911 activated and a local office will take my call (or something like that).

Just because where I live is on the list, I still can't confirm that it's active.

Is there any Vonage posting with expected E911 rollout by state?

Is there any info?

How do I know if I have e911 or not?

I know I can call 933, but that just tells me my 911 service has been activated for my address. I want to know if it is truly e911.

Ok.... this is wierd. I'm in Colorado. When I dial 933 with one of my lines... I get 911 dialing is enabled.

When I use my other number, I get Enhanced 911 is enabled.

Hmm.. both are Vonage. Wierd that only one has enhanced 911.

The one that says E911 is activated is a 720 area code.

The non-e911 is a 303 area code.
