Hi, we are recent converts to Vonage in our household and have been using the service for a week now with no problems whatsoever except for today. For the first time since using the Vonage account we have tried to ring directory enquiries (118118 & 118500) and neither number work. After the phone dials the number there is a short silence and then a pulsing dial tone in quick succession and continues to do so until we hang up.

I have just spoken to customer services, technical department and spoke to a chap from the States who reset the line and told me to turn off the router for a minute and switch it back on. This has been carried out with no success.

Any other member from the UK having problems dialing any directory enquiry numbers?

118500 works for me.
In fact embarrassingly quick, I had to say I dialled the wrong number! Which is pretty weak, but quicker than explaining I was dialling to test my Vonage connection.

mmmm thanks for trying ifd001 I thought that this should be available through Vonage.

Anyone from Vonage in here prepared to look into this matter for me? PM me and I will supply account number etc.

Neither number works for me. I get some horrible distorted sounding fast busy!

It looks like this could be a sporadic problem then with some people being able to ring a directory enquires number starting with 118 and some getting the busy brrr-brrr-brrr quick busy tone.

Could anyone from Vonage comment on this please?

I have a freephone number for directory enquiries. It does work give it a try 0800 0192190

Thank you very much pje1979 for the 0800 directory enquiries number I will go and give it a try. I think the problem must be a configuration problem from Vonage's end based on the fact that all the 118 numbers have a total of 6 digits. Maybe the network isn't set up to recognize a number with that few digits?

I have now emailed customer services and have a ticket number, I have also included a link to this thread and will post a reply if/when I get it.

No problem Bubbles. g4hlf the number is for a company called Trinity Mirror it's an alternative to 118190. Don't know why they are offering it free but it definatley works and it is free. I've been using it for a couple of months. Don't know how much longer it will work but save some money while it still does.
