PostPosted: Tue Oct 04, 2005 12:46 am    Post subject: Carrier Approved Transfer 8/25 Still Nothing Happening? Reply with quote Back to top

Hey guys and girls. I have used Vonage for quite some time but recently made a new account for the purpose of a number transfer from Verizon here in TX. The process seemed to go quickly at first as the account was made on 8/19 and then the approval came on 8/25. Since then I have gotten numerous stories on why the transfer has yet to actually happen. On the call to Vonage yesterday the rep told me it was a problem with Verizon not releasing the number. I asked why then did it say there was a carrier transfer approval on 8/25. She couldn't answer that one. I notice that there are many people with long waits but have not seen any instance similar to this one. Why was it approved.... then taking so long? To boot Verizon was even worse. I called to try and find out something from them on the hold up. The rep there told me that she couldn't tell me if there even was a hold up as it is against their policy and also that Verizon "has good reasons" why they create a hold up and will not disclose that info as well. So I ask, what do I do? If I don't know what the problem is, I can't very well send in the information needed to fix it. Anyone out there with some light on this or a similar problem please post.

I recently ported my number from Verizon(exGTE). When they approved the transfer they also supplied a 'transfer date'. In my case this was found under the 'Existing phone number transfer status' link on the Vonage Dashboard. In my case it was 5 days from approval of LNP till the date of the transfer. In my case it went very smoothly the morning of the transfer date. Didn't even have to power off/on my phone adapter/router.

I appreciate the info. I am not sure what the problem is but again today I have dealt with nothing but "passing the buck". Vonage says it is Verizon, and Verizon says it is Vonage. My transfer did seem to go smooth at first so I think I might cancel the transfer and try again. At this point I don't think I have anything to lose.
