Ok heres my problem when i try connect all 3 togther i get erratic downloads speeds on 14 MB file my speed will go up to 500 kbps the drop down to 0.0 kbps for second and start backup ive tried all different configuations but still the same problem .

let me tell you whats worked so far .
Motorola surfboard SB5100
Linnksys wrt54g
Linksys rt31p2 (A)
Linksys rt31p2 (B)
PC 1
PC 2
Wireless laptop (works with all configs)

if i hook up 1 phone adaptor with wireless router it works fine but when i add the 2nd ph adaptor i start having problems

this happens with i put the phone adaptor in front of the wireles router or after ?

ive follwed all digrams and still the same problem .

the second ph adaptor is free from my work so i really dont need iy but its cool if i can get it to work because it free ..

You most likely need to change the default IP address of one of the phone adapters - you can't have duplicate IP addresses on the same network. Change one from 192.168.15.1 to something like 192.168.16.1

If you can get away with not using one of those routers (meaning you dont have a wireless computer but you like looking at the cool blinking lights on the wireless router anyway) get rid of it - it's not good networking to have unneccessary devices. Idea

Ok...First of who is your ISP, DL/UP speeds etc..

Then you say you have problems. Are the problems just the DL issue, or call quality etc....

It seems like you may have alot of points on here for your connection. 1 router than wireless to 2 RTP31P2's, two PCs, then a laptop thrown into the mix sometimes..

Depending on what is running on the PC's at the time, anyone on the phone, your wireless connections etc...your could be using up some of width..

Does this happens when both lines are going? What is on the PC's at the time ie Torrent etc...

Cox High Speed Internet
DL 5 Mbps UL 768 Kbps

Call quality seems fine even when i have both phone adaptors hooked up download speed is fine when i have 1 phone adaptor hooked up with my wireless modem or by itself and i do have wireless laptop .

my downlaods speeds a steady 600 kbps on a good day and steady 400 kbps on a bad day .

my problem is not a problem with any other config only when i try hooking up both phone adaptors ..

i changed the default IP address on one of the routers to 192.168.15.2 and left the other as 192.168.15.1 is good enough or should i be changing the 5 to a 6 instead ?

it seems like there is some conflict with the phone adaptors .

right now i have this setup and its working fine
cable modem > ph adaptor A >port 1> to linksys wireless >port to PC A port 2 PC B
and this is working just fine .

it seems i would just hook up phone adaptor 2 to port 2 on the phone adaptor1 and it should be fine and while it does work as far as making ph calls and even surfing the web on the PC's and laptop its when i start downloading that i really notice the erratic downloads ?

thanks for the suggestions in advance

no - change one to 192.168.16.1 like I said. this will ensure that the device is not on the same subnet as the other. if you give it 192.168.15.5, and then one of your computers gets the same address from the DHCP server on the router, you will still have conflict.

OK I'm re-reading over your setup. All 3 of those linksys routers have the same default IP address from the factory, 192.168.15.1. Make sure you have no duplicates, I'm still not sure that this isn't the problem. Also I can't really tell how you have them hooked up from your description. Do you have any kind of file printer sharing setup on your network that requires one or more PC's to be on the same router?

If this was my gear, I would have it going from cable modem (what cable ISP only gives 600kpbs max downloads?! Time to get on the horn and start screaming IMO)

cable modem to RT31P2 #1 internet port. Then from ethernet port 1 to RT31p2#2's internet port. From rt31p2 #1's ethernet 2 to wrtp54g, and from wrtp54g to both wired PC's - this way all PC's, wired and wireless will be on the same router, making sure any file or printer sharing will be easy. Make sure of course that you change the third octet in 2 of the router's default IP addresses:

rt31p2 #1 = 192.168.15.1 (leave default)
rt31p2#2 = 192.168.16.1
wrt54g = 192.168.17.1

If this doesnt work, try to isolate if the problem is with the adapter itself or with the network setup - because the above setup should work, assuming none of the devices is malfunctioning. try it one device at a time.

OK maybe i wrote my speed wrong its KB/s anyway my speed is fine compared to the numerous test ive done ...

:::.. Download Stats ..:::
Connection is:: 3435 Kbps about 3.4 Mbps (tested with 12160 kB)
Download Speed is:: 419 kB/s
Tested From:: http://testmy.net/ (server2)
Test Time:: Wed Oct 05 2005 18:53:44 GMT-0500 (Central Daylight Time)
Bottom Line:: 61X faster than 56K 1MB download in 2.44 sec
Diagnosis: 90% + Okay : running at 93.57 % of your hosts average (cox.net)
Validation Link:: http://testmy.net/stats/id-MAB81Y0R9

ive seen better test ?

here goes my setup

RT31P2 #1>192.168.16.1
RT31p2 #2 > 192.168.15.1
Wrtp54g >192.168.1.1

No file printer sharing

you have it set up just right - now the problem isn't so much with your phone service as your downloads, correct? It's starting to look like that device is bad. Have you investigated any of the numerous QOS threads on this forum, what might be something you need to set up, prioritizing voice traffic over downloads and other traffic.
