Since you already have a travel router why duplicate hardware? buy the pap2 in in your local staples, best guy etc... You get a rebate and it wound up costing me only ten bucks for it. I use it with my existing router and it works great...Never had a problem

Maybe because he stated in his original post that he needed a Vonage adapter that also had LAN ports?? As has already been discussed in the thread, the PAP2 will not do what he needs it to do. His travel router is actually not a router, its an access point, and has no LAN ports to plug the PAP2 into.

Staples has the newer Linksys WRTP54G phone adaptor with built-in wireless on sale for $59.94 after $50 rebate, free shipping, tax is charged. You also get a $75 Visa card upon Vonage activation.

$50 rebate ends today Saturday 10/8. See the Staples website.

Just as an FYI- you'll find a few problems depending on what you do with your WRT54G. My current big issue is that the unit reboots EVERY 12 hours.

*70 does not work also. (block call waiting.) There is a huge list of bugs yet to be resolved with the unit as well according to Vonage themselves. Sadly, Linksys went with a texas intstruments based chipset over their normal broadcom chips, and the result has been less than stellar. I"m currently in the process of trying to get a PAP2 and partial refund from Vonage after weeks of frustration.

If you hit up the Amazon page for the device, you'll see plenty of similar comments. Had mine since July 2nd. Got it from Best Buy...qualified for rebate, but Vonage's rebate center is telling me they won't honor it. (And this was the whole reason I waited so long before finally requesting to maybe get a pap2)

I don't think you mean to say WRT54G, which is a standalone wireless G router with no phone ports. WRT54G does not use TI chips, it uses Broadcom and works very well. I use it with the PAP2, and it is perfect. I think the standalone router and standalone PAP2 phone adapter are a better bet than a combined unit currently, but I don't travel with the adapter, so that isn't the best solution for everyone.

I believe your post is referring to the WRTP54G - Linksys should really work on more meaningful and creative product naming!

I'll throw my vote in... I'd go for a RTP300 or WRTP54G. The TI chipset means superior voice quality, and the latest firmware versions are much more stable than the original ones. I do wish it was as small as the PAP2, but willing to live with it b/c of the built-in router, which spares me from dragging an additional router with me. In some hotels, they require that you go to a web page to turn on the internet connection, and in those cases, the PAP2 won't work without a router.
