Echo when calling Vonage

Hi,

Another problem I notice....

When I call a Vonage number I can hear a small ammount of echo, this occurs regardless if I call from a BT fixed line or one of a number of mobile phones.

The echo exists regardless of the phone connected to the Vonage line, i.e I have tried several different instruments.

If I move the phone from the Vonage line to a BT line and repeat the same scenario no echo is heard.

The echo is slight but annoying and unnecessary all the same. It can be heard for approximately the first 500ms by which point the echo canceler starts doing its job properly. To demonstrate this call a vonage number and without anyone else talking say 4 loudly down the phone.

I have tried it to several Vonage numbers in the UK with the same result.

Looks like you need to play with your EC's!

Yep, we suffer from echo too. I just though it was a feature of VoIP. Good that someone who knows what they're talking about is prodding Vonage. But will they do anything about it?

I'd like to stick with Vonage but just wish all these problems didn't exist. Wife acceptability not good enough.
