Seems like Vonage is using something other than SIP. Can anyone confirm if they do actually use SIP? I don't appear to see the standard port 5060 SIP. I do see some random UDP ports in the 10000 range. |

I believe it is SIP, and AFAIK the Linksys adapters use Sipura firmware (Cisco owns both). Linksys states that you should port forward ports 5060-5061, 53, 69, and 10000 to 20000, so it must use all of these at some point. |

It is SIP and speaks on UDP/5060 and/or UDP/5061. The 10000+ range is for RTP media ports. UDP/69 is for TFTP (for flash updates). The SIP server is e.voncp.com, and your username is your Vonage DID number. And the password is...
well, that's a secret that won't give you.
If you're serious about using Vonage and SIP, using a combination of the Simulring feature, the Asterisk PBX software and Vonage SoftPhone gives you almost everything you'd want in terms of divorcing yourself from the Vonage ATA. Granted, there's that 500 min/mo limitation and the fact that you're paying another $10/mo. |

Actually, I should correct myself (spoke too soon looking at my softphone traffic)... looks like they did indeed choose a non-standard port (UDP/10000) for the SIP registration on the ATA. It is however, definitely SIP. |
