Is anyone using Time Warner Roadrunner Lite with Vonage?
I am using Vonage with "regular" Roadrunner but it is me costing $45 per month for RR.
My friend switched to RR Lite for about $25 per month and says he can not tell much difference in internet speed. But will the slower internet speed affect my Vonage service.

I don't know the answer to your question, but why don't you ask your friend to go to the Vonage site and run the speed test? Do the same from your own computer, and then you'll have a starting point for comparing the services. |

pretty sure rr lite is 256/128. you might get away with it...but it would probably involve at least a little bit of tweaking. |

And if those speeds are right, I wouldn't expect good internet performance when the phone is in use. |

I read on the Vonage site that 90 Kbps is required for the Vonage service to work best so the RR Lite at 128 Kbps might be pushing it especially if someone is using the Internet at the same time the phone is being used.
I guess I will have to stay with the regular RR service although I think $45 per month is a bit high.

it is high. but 90kbps is the highest vonage setting. there is also 50 and 30. if I were you, I'd switch to rr lite, try vonage and regular computer usage at each setting, then switch back if i had to. |

Or carry your adapter over to your friend's house, if he's willing, and give it a try. |

The other thing is, as it was explained to me, the kbps quote that Vonage gives you needs to be cut in half.
90kbps for the highest setting actually means 45kbps upload and 45kbps download.
So the lowest setting on the bandwidth saver thingy is 30kbps, only 15kbps upload and 15kbps download.
So it's all up to Roadrunner, and your computer. I don't think you'll be able to run Limewire and play World of Warcraft while talking on the phone and stuff. |

Uhh, whoever explained that to you simply had no idea what they were talking about, because that's simply wrong. 90k means 90k up and 90k down, and its actually a little higher than that because of the packetization overhead. |
