Has anyone else had calls that ring but have nobody on the line when you answer from "Vonage Holdings" 1-732-287-2542? I've had several. I've called the number back out of curiosity, and it picks up and plays three quick beep tones followed by about 5 seconds of silence in a repetitive pattern.

Any ideas what this is?

do you have any open tickets or reason for Vonage tech support to be calling?
otherwise I have no idea, must be some rogue Vonage user, heh.

No, I don't have any tech problems or issues that are open. I had one of these the day my number transfer completed and again a little while ago. My 911 acknowledgement was completed during my initial setup, so they're not trying to contact me about that. I've been a subscriber for a month now.

Just kind of weird!!

Don't they call, though, like if your account is about to be suspended due to billing issues? That's all I can think it is.
Also the triple-beep action, I don't know much about the newer ones but maybe it's a fax machine. So maybe someone gave your number by accident and said "Make a copier picture of your face and fax it to me!" and Vonage tried a few times. Then you called back and got the little faxy greeting.
Part of what me think this is the fact they have no names on Vonage lines caller ID. Since Vonage uses Vonage lines at work, outgoing calls would just have a 1-866 number or something instead of "Vonage Holdings"
..... my sources tell me that the 732-287-2542 number is owned by .... by VERIZON! (Dun dun DUN!). The only POTS numbers like that Vonage has, far as I know, are the fax line, test lines (They can call out on traditional telephone lines to see if calls go through from non-Vonage customers) and the fax machine(which is on some kind of T1/traditional phone line crack deal)

Since I'm still in my first free month, have a zero balance, and they have my credit card, I don't think it is an account billing issue...plus wouldn't they want to talk if they thought there was a problem?

It is also not a fax tone at all - just call it yourself and you'll know. The caller id name clearly says "Vonage Holdings", I'm doubtful it is a Verizon line (and I never was a Verizon customer).

It is probably some sort of automated call system, but about what / for what I don't know. I'm surprised no one else has had this, since most problems or anomalies are usually seen by a number of people.

BTW, Caller Name does work on Vonage to Vonage calls, which I'm sure this is. It doesn't work on Vonage to PSTN - just Caller Number.
