Post subject: Unreachable 1-800 numbers
Anybody heard anything from
Vonage
when this issue will be resolved? Or any hints if they're working on this issue? The list of 1-800 numbers in Canada I can't call is growing and it's really annoying to have to switch to my cell phone everytime.

nope, no word, prolly won't happen any time soon, if ever..
and if it does, it'll end up with a Missisaugua server and you'll stil lonly be able to call numbers that the 905 can call, whcih it better than the way it is now, but it'll never be perfect..
thats my guess anyways.. maybe I'm totally wrong.. LoL..

This has a high annoyance factor for me because of my home alarm. I rewired it to use
Vonage
just fine, but the number it dials out is a Canadian-only 1-800 number so it's failing. Fortunately, my contract expires in two months so I'll be looking at new alarm alternatives.
And speaking of alarm companies, most don't even want to talk to you if you mention
VoIP
. Only AlarmForce said they're okay with it, but only if you subscribe to the more expensive AlarmPlus service (and they're the company I really do not want to go with).

Its not that fact that
vonage
doesn't support 1-800 numbers. You can call 800 #s.
The problem is with the company you are trying to call. If they subscribe to an 800 # that only canadians can call, then
vonage
wont be able to call it because the
vonage
service is coming out through the U.S. (New Jersey to be exact)
The only 800 #s you would be able to access is if the company subscribes to an 800 # that anyone in north america can access. Or if its an 800 # that the U.S. can access.
This problem can't be resolved until
vonage
sets up a server in Canada (Mississauga, On is where I hear they will eventually have one).

Post subject: Toll Free Numbers
You can submit the numbers to
questions@
vonage
.ca or call us to report an unreachable toll free number.
We will need the following:
Number
Company
City/Town
Province
Thank you

Very interesting, Oscar. Are you suggesting that this could be resolved simply by reporting which numbers aren't working? I will surely take you up on that offer.
