I'd say use the website, or a cellphone, or non-VOIP phone. CIC are annoying, and 90% of the time you get French-speaking incomprehensable people when you ask for English service (besides the point though).

I'm still waiting for CIC to get their finger out of you-know-where and mail me final papers. I've given up on their phone "service" long ago because it likes to ignore keypresses and just loop you around the menu a few times before hanging up. Unless you have some urgent matter where you really need to talk to an agent, don't bother calling them. You can check the status of any application online, in seconds, rather than waiting forever on the phone. If you can't get a status, it's not been processed yet.

CIC is still unreachable ... just tried

Citizenship and Immigration Canada Call Centre
1-888-242-2100

Error message said "Area code is unreachable from {something I didn't make out} 007" - it wasn't the best audio on the error message.

I have a number you can call to get to CIC, i even posted it in it's very own thread about 2 or 3 months ago, but I'll post it agaoin here, I actually just used it tonight to call them for a refund..

613-944-4000 then press 1 for English or 2 for French, then press 2 for Immigration, it will 'click' and then it'll ring again as it transfers you to CIC's call centre.. Smile then go through their (CIC'S) STUPID menu system and enjoy the busy signal.. LMFAO!



yeah, I hate calling CIC, luckily, our case was transfered from CIC-Veg. to CIC-London (local office) months ago, and we have an e-mail address to contact the person woring on our case, and even better news than that, is my wife and kid's papers are FINALIZED as of today and will be in the mail next week Very Happy yay!!! our Immigration Counceller was very nice and helped us with some oddities in our app that Vegreville couldn't handle, hence the transfer to our London office.. Smile

to get through the CIC call centre, whenit first picks up, dial 1 right away, then when they start yapping again, dial 2 (Immigration), then press 0 right away, and it'll go to the recording and busy signal where you can hang up and try again, or if you're lucky it'll ring instead of busy (only took me 2 tries tonight, LoL)

btw, I hope your case is going good..

I spoke with Vonage once again about this issue and the representative said there are no plans to fix the problem. He suggested if I find it a major issue to file a complaint. So I suggest we all do!

Please file a complaint with the CRTC using this form: CRTC Complaint form or by calling them and filing the complaint. Apparently Vonage is not going to do anything without a little "help" from the regulators.

I'm in the US, but I noticed now, when I do ANI tests, the ANI comes up with my number, and not that New Jersey number... someone correct me if I'm wrong, but has Vonage fixed this?

I posted at the CRTC link yesterday and just received a polite reply. Here is an excerpt...

"...the CRTC does not regulate the quality of service or the terms and conditions under which Voip companies provide services to their customers."

It doesn't seem like any action will be taken.

Apparently Sean Sears, VP of Operations and Technology is now promising resolution of this issue by August 7, 2006. We'll see! Hopefully it finally will start working correctly!
