I have tried and tried to get a 'local' number for CIC, there is even an office in London, but there is NO phone number anywhere for this office.. I once found a number for an 'Ontario Citizenship and Immigration' office in london, i called it, and they said they receive soo many wrong number calls for ppl looking for the correct Canada CIC office which is 1 block down the street from them.. they dont' even know the number.. my MP can't find the number either.. the only person i know who knows the number for that office is a lady named Kathy that works for the public School board here, she is in charge of all foreign students and she has a number, but will not give it out, she once called it for me and had them call me back at my work tho..
as far as the CI Call centre, there are no local numbers anymore, they have been cancelled, there is only the 1-888 number..
that 416 number in the last post is just some recorded informatin, there is no way to speak to a real person on that number.
i didn't try the 613 #, not sure if they will be able to re-direct your call or not, I dont' think they're part of CIC, but rather a separate board.. but it's definately worth a shot..

Will
Vonage
be addressing this issue of Canadian 800 numbers not working from
Vonage
?
I just found a fax number for CIBC bank that does not work using
Vonage
as the number is only registered in Canada, not the USA.
It is frustrating.

I noticed the following post in the "Voicemail in French" post.
I am in the same situation - my message in French but the options in English before the beep. My callers sometimes give up !
I talked to a
Vonage
representative today, mentionned this situation and they sent me an email saying
Les nombres de 800 seront réparés a la fin d'octobre. Aussi, les boites vocales seront en français par la fin d’année
Let's see how this turns out with them !
This seems to include a message from
Vonage
that the 800 problem will be fixed by the end of October. Let's hope it is 2005.

My ADT system in Canada uses 1-888-207-9523 to dial out.
Can this # be activated?

I am really surprised how many 800 numbers I use. I was just booking a hotel in NF, and sure enough all I had was their 877 number. I sure hope this will be fixed soon or I am out of here.

I don't know if this will help out but if you haven't seen the latest news release, a solution may be on the way at last.

I don't know if this agreement means that there will be call servers located in Canada but that's what it sounds like to me.
It was nice of Oscar to suggest that some of the unreachable Canadian toll free numbers might made accessible but clearly this isn't a solution to the problem. Thanks anyway Oscar.

Post subject: ExpressVu number
You can't access the 1-800 number for ExpressVu but you can reach Tech Support by calling 1-416-383-6688.

I would sure like to hear from
Vonage
Canada what their position, plans, and schedule are for getting Canadian 800 number service up and running.
