I was wondering about the ugrades, My login page says it has version 1.00.18 I guess thats old because i hear 1.00.50 is out, how do i get my router to upgrade its firmware? will it do it automaticly? thanks for your replies.

After a while, it should pick up the new firmware from Vonage. It may take a day or two, or even up to one week, but it should. You can somewhat force it by unplugging the router, holding in the "Reset" button for aprox. 15sec's and then plug in and release the Reset button after plugging in.

Been a Vonage customer for over two years now, just bought this router. The Vonage support guy tried to download the firmware, but it didn't take. I went to Linksys and got the firmware (1.00.50) from their site, used their uploader, and got it to work first time. Been rock solid.

Funny there is no "download" available. Here is how you get it.

Go to http://www.linksys.com.

Click Support, Technical Support, EASY ANSWERS.

In the "products" drop down box, select Voice over IP Products. Search. You should come up with a single hit on Multiple router configurations.

Click that answer, scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Linksys required Firmware update for WRTP54G." There you go.

I know its convoluted, but I didn't find it in a normal firmware search.

I have read other posts about all the issues with this router, but I haven't seen them (yet, knock on wood). Good luck.

This no longer seems to work. The Vonage Level 2 rep told me to contact linksys about upgrading the firmware and Linksys told me to contact Vonage... Woohoo!!! Another game of pass the buck while I spend half a day on the phone just trying to upgrade from Firmware 1.00.20 because everyone says that is the problem but no one can actually provide the file and method of upgrading the firmware....

Odd.

My very first call on my WRTP54G to Vonage got me a rep who could, within 5 minutes of answering the phone, initiate an immediate download of new firmware. Didn't fix my problem, but at least they updated my firmware quickly and without incident.

I'd call CS again.

there's usually a firmware tab in the web interface. if not, then I'm not sure how to/if you can manually update it.

There is no firmware tab and I believe that Vonage has to actually initiate the upgrade. But I haven't been able to get it from any of the CS reps...
Oh since my service has been so spotty I didn't report this earlier but let me just say for the record that Caller ID does NOT work and call waiting causes me to lose the call I am on.
