It has changed a few times. Last posting it is before the end of the year which it was by 4th quater before that which would have made it Sept.
Heard it might be in Oct but the phone they are beta testing is out on the market and can be bought online. Now I do not know if it will work on
Vonage
as of yet but have heard it works if you have a softphone. But than your limted on minutes and things also if it works with the softphone.

The whole idea of the Wi-Fi phone, and the reason why I want it, is because it is supopsed to "work on
Vonage
." That is, when you take it within range of a hotspot that does not have a webpage to gain access, the device will function as if you are connected to your
Vonage
adapter. In that way, I could bring my
Vonage
adapter to my office, and at home, where I have Wi Fi, use the Wi-Fi phone to make calls, or if I go to a friend's who has Wi-Fi, I could still make calls using the minutes from my Wi Fi account. Really, the device is perfect for someone who might go to a limited number of location all of which has a Wi Fi router and who wants to use their
Vonage
phone at all locations.

I am not convinced that this is entirely correct. I do not believe you could use an adapter at one location and a WiFi phone at a separate location on the same line. I believe that the WiFi phone would be treated as just another adapter in your account.
I would like to think that your scenario would be permitted, can you provide some idea about where you got this information?

I think what he means is that he will use the WIFI phone as his only psuedo land line telephone. He wont have a
vonage
adapter. He will just use the wifi phone from his wifi at home and the wifi phone from his wifi in the office. Cool idea if you live by yourself I suppose and dont have family that require the use of the phone at home.

Yes I totally agree with you I was just saying
Vonage
keeps extending the release date, But the phone they are beta testing is out and can be bought by the general public for use with SIP. Which is what softphone uses so technically you should be able to buy the one that is the same phone they are beta testing and use it to connect to
Vonage
. I believe there is a message on this forum that says it does work with the WI-FI phone right now even though
Vonage
still has it in beta. The only difference is if you by the WI-FI phone that they are testing the only way to access your account would be through the softphone account through
Vonage
.
I believe this is the third time the release date changed for WI-FI and hopefully there won't be a 4th time.
Here is the phone that
Vonage
is beta testing and it can be bought right online already

Vonage
was going to be the first to offer the Wi-Fi phone and just found out they are not the first now to offer it. Just saw it posted for $99.95 with a package deal. It is the same Wi-Fi phone the F1000 that
Vonage
has been beta testing.
I thought
Vonage
would be the first out with it with all the reviews and press they got for the first one with it. First for Beta maybe first for public use not anymore sadly.
PM me if you would like a link I do not want to post it publicly

I was under the impression too that it would work near any wi-fi hotspot. Here in Jersey, birthplace of the Diner, a lot of the diners nearby are wi-fi hotspots. They said you would be able to take
Vonage
's new wi-fi phone to one of these and use it, as long as it didn't have a webpage or a password needed to access.
This would be cool for business travellers too, instead of a durn softphone/laptop setup.
Another thing
allegedly
in the works would be a combination wi-fi/cell phone, since you can't always be in range of a wi-fi hotspot. It's impossible for me to imagine that technology has come this far; I remember buying my first cell phone in 1994, it was like half the size of my forearm.
