How does the F3000 work? If I were to buy one, how do you set it up to work with an existing
Vonage
account?

no one knows since it's not an option. right now the only option would be to buy a softphone, but they may have different plans for it when it comes out.

Oh, man the F3000 is already shipping in a couple weeks. It's a flip phone with a color screen and wifi-roaming for $210 retail. You're still drooling for a '90s-style cell phone brick that's "discounted" to something slightly less than $100, and perhaps with an on-going monthly fee??
.
Check it out :'p

Hmmm, Vonage's F1000 WiFi "beta" program didn't go so well, I'm guessing.
Phil
Just think if
Vonage
starts to beta test that we might have it in about another year. By that time something even better will come out lol. They are more interested in marketing than pleasing thier existing customers. I think
Vonage
actually is the only
Voip
company without call blocking, and other options everyone has been complaining about for years.
When you read the reviews it was
Vonage
to be the first for WiFi now they aren't they can't even get it out after 5 release dates that have fallen through. 6th is on the way cause says by end of year and that is 30 days away. Just don't hold your breath other
Voip
can handle SIP which means any phone can be used like cisco and stuff. But with SIP that means you can move around from company to company with no hassle. No waiting for an adapter no need if you have a SIP compatible phone, but if you have a SIP compatibale phone or router it won't work on

Ouch, not very flattering:
Quote:
...it’s easy to mistake UTStarcom’s F1000 handset (utstar.com) for a low-end cell phone.
There are four things that are/could make users unhappy:
- Vaporware (it's been a
long
time now)
- You have to pay for the phone
- You have to pay extra monthies to make it work
- The phone is an older generation phone
I don't know about some others here, but a year ago, I would have paid for the phone, an additional monthly to make it work, and touted it to friends.
Now, it would seem laughable to pay for it, upsetting to pay an additional monthly fee, and head-scratching that they are entering the
Voip
wifi game with a previous gen phone. The fact that it's been vaporware up to this point is rather fustrating to boot.
Oh, well, sorry, sorry to vent. I'm probably preaching to the choir.
On a positive note, I've had a bit of fun with Asterisk at work (
http://www.asterisk.org
). Run
Voip
phones as extensions (even to the home), interconnect similar PBX's over the network, connect to legacy hardware via PCI cards, etc. Excluding hardware (a PC is all, if you aren't connecting to land-lines or legacy equipment), it's free. Fun to play with for geeks like me. =')

From Engadget.com:
It looks like UTStarcom’s retro-cell designed F1000 WiFi
Voip
phone carried by
Vonage
is in for an update. While we don’t have any details directly from UTStarcom or
Vonage
on this, voipsupply.com is offering a $210 pre-order of the F3000 802.11b/g clamshell with 65K color 128x160 LCD with mid-Decemeber shipping date. In addition to 64/128bit WEP support, the F3000 also introduces WPA/MD5 authentication and is expected to be fully SIP compliant according to Tom’s Networking, though, oddly, this is not in the spec listing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I particularly like the line "F1000 WiFi
Voip
phone carried by Vonage".
I guess 'carried' and 'sold by' are two different things!

Also like the one that it works with
Vonage
Voip
, if that is the case why wasn't it out the last five times they said they were going to release it. Must not be working all that well if it takes beta of over a year.
So far they had out the f1000, than an upgrade to the f1000 and now an 3000 the one
Vonage
is working on it old news and not worth ANYTHING now. They really missed the boat on this one even cell phones are now starting to come with wifi than only one phone not 2
