I can tell you for a fact that Samsung already has WiFi/CDMA handsets. I'm not certain if any carriers have rolled out the service yet, but I know that several are looking at implementing exactly this in the next year. Your cell phone would automatically register to your home LAN and connect to a Voip line when in range and then dymanically switch to the cell network as you left the house. This isn't a use it "anywhere" hotspot solution, but an integration of home phone/cell phone that gets you off the cell network when you are home. |

That review - mentioned in the previous posting - says that the Wi Fi phone should be available in October. It is October 21st, and the phone is not for sale on the web site yet.
I would buy the Wi Fi phone, since it would allow me to make calls from my office, home and a few other locations.
Does anyone have a real date when the Wi Fi phone will be available? |

Does anyone have any NEW information about the starcom f1000?
Does any one know if when the beta testing will end and when Vonage will begin selling it? |

Well other than it being released by the end of Oct no other information came out. They are late on that again unless they meant Oct 2006. If you go by thier web site by the end of the year but doubt that they will actually hit that date either cause there was another version of the phone released from another provider that solves the login issues at hot spots.
They only have 1 months left before they are late on now 5 dates they released. Keep an eye out in Jan they might update with yet another date. |

Oh, man the F3000 is already shipping in a couple weeks. It's a flip phone with a color screen and wifi-roaming for $210 retail. You're still drooling for a '90s-style cell phone brick that's "discounted" to something slightly less than $100, and perhaps with an on-going monthly fee?? .
Check it out :'p

Hmmm, Vonage's F1000 WiFi "beta" program didn't go so well, I'm guessing.

Okay, how about some details...Where did you get it? What phone is it? Are you using it on Vonage?
Please tell as there are lots of folks on this forum who have been waiting, and no info is coming from Vonage. |

Oh, nevermind, it's 900 mhz, not Wi-Fi. But it works everywhere so far. Only tested it in my house though. |
