Saw someone else talking about using a Siemens phone system with 2 lines and Vonage. I've been trying to set this up, but have been having some problems and hoping other users could chime in.
I have a Gigaset 2420 and 3 remote phones. I have a 2402 on the way for a second base to cover the back yard and other side of the house. I currently have Vonage on line 1 and the pots line on line 2. When the Vonage line rings, it rings briefly. So briefly, that I can't even answer the call on the remotes. The remotes act as if nothing is happening between the rings. Not a problem on the base because I can simply hit the line button and force picking up the line. Someone else mentioned putting the pots line on line 1 and the Vonage on line 2. For those of you that have it, how do you have yours setup? |

I have a Gigaset 2420 and the base and the remote phones all ring. My ATA is connected this way: ATA->ADT Alarm Panel phone in->ATD phone out->house wiring. How many devices do you have connected to your house wiring? If they exceed a REN value of 5 the ATA won't be able to ring them all. |

I tried a few things last night which did not work. However I did not try plugging the 2420 and only the 2420 into the ATA (DUH!). I'll try that today. Glad to know it should work... |

I tried just plugging the 2420 into the ATA186 directly. Still did not ring properly. However when I received my 2402 (basicially just the cordless part of the 2420 with no desk phone) it works perfectly. I'm wondering if there isn't a problem with my 2420. I'm in the process of contacting where I bought it and returning it for another unit. |

My 2420 was working great and yesterday it started behaving like yours. I am on a business trip and my wife is raising hell at home. I need to figure out what "broke" my setup. |

Interesting... now I wonder if it is related to the setup in the ATA186. I.E. some type of ring duration setting. Possible that your ATA just got an update? I didn't even think to call Vonage assuming they would just tell me to use a compatible phone that worked with the ATA. |

Using the Gigaset 2420 without any problems with the following configuration.
ISP >>> DSL Modem >>> 4 Port Switch >>> LAN A on 1 Port & LAN 2 on 2nd Port.
From 4 Port Switch >>> Linksys BEFSR41 (LAN A) WAN Port >>> LAN Port 1 on Router to Moto ATA >>> Voice Port 1 of ATA to Line 2 "Y" Cable on Gigaset 2420
Line 1 of "Y" Cable to POTS line.
To Dial out on POTS Line - Select Line 1 on Base Unit or Handset.
To Dial out on Vonage Line - Select Line 2 on Base Unit or Handset
Inbound calls display Line Number on LCD Panel of Base Unit or Handset.
Caller ID displayed on Base Unit and Handset.
Only issue; voice dropout on some Vonage calls. Minor aggravation but not a major issue. Service seems to be improving. |

I went back to the base system settings and reset the unit to factory defaults. I then disabled the answering machine. The Siemens system is working fine again. I must have changed some setting the messed up the Gigaset 2420. |

ping_it, you have the Moto unit, I think txcas and I are using the Cisco ATA.
txcas, I'll have to give that a shot. Do you think it was the settings, or the Answering machine? |

I also have the Motorola ATA. I am sure it was the phone settings and not the answering machine being on or off. My setup was working fine with the answering machine off, before I made some changes to the base settings. After those changes the 2420 started acting up. |
