I have done exstensive research on these forums and on the Tivo community website, even done a search through google but none seemed to have a proper answer. I just recently had Direct-tivo installed and had little to no trouble at all. It also has made every one of its bi-daily calls fine.
The first thing I did when the unit was installed was call Vonage technical support and they changed the packet size from 8-10 to 30. If you haven't already done so change up your bit rate on the vonage website to the highest quality (90 KPS). I have seen many people post that different prefixes work and they change the settings of the call but I have found no proof that these codes change anything. In dialing prefix, I just have two commas I.E ,, and it makes its calls just fine.
So in short there is no need for a DSL filter an external modem or a New York telephone number.
If you have any questions or any suggestions you would like to add feel free. |

You are one of the lucky ones! However, there are many different Tivos out there and I can tell you since having Vonage since January your suggestion will not work with all models. The only completely reliable way to get Tivo to make the calls is via the serial cable method. Some people will need a DSL filter, external model and NY phone numbers. |

azagothoth,
What are your complete settings. Is there any way to provide a screen shot of your settings.
Thanks,
Michael |

What does the above mean? 8-10 to 30?
Are you talking about Packetization rate, or something different? |

Hey Azagothoth,
How do you hook up TIVO to Vonage, obviously I can't just plug the cable from the TIVO into the wall. What do I use as the interface?
Thanks..
