For some reason this week, when I try to make a call, there is dialtone, but after the number is entered, the line just sits there and doesn't complete the call, and after a few seconds I get a fast beep.
Then after some time later, I try the same number and the call goes through no problem.
Does anyone have this sort of problem, where the call making is touch and go? If so, what is causing this problem? |

It's possible that you are actually completing the calls, but you can't hear. If you have a router in front of the ATA, make sure to forward the ports listed on vonage's web site. |

Having the same problem. If I reboot my cable modem, it comes back but just for a short time. I try to dial out and it waits about 20 seconds and then I get a fast busy.
Vonage customer service spent an hour on the phone with me but their internal servers are not working right so they could not debug the problem.
I have the Cisco box. |

I have my router in front of the Motorola. I have not added the forwarding ports yet, but if the problem happens again, I'll be sure to give that a shot.
It's just annoying that we have to physically reboot the setup everytime this happens. |

Tried forwarding the ports. Vonage tech support said I did not have to with my router but we tried it anyway. Still having problems.
I have had this service for 6 months with no problems and this problem just appeared in the last couple of days. No changes in my configuration. |

For a few weeks almost every outgoing call would require a second or third dial before the call would go through.
(The 15 second delay followed by a fast busy is the same behavior you get when you pick up, dial one digit and wait.)
Eventually all outgoing calls failed. Howver, dialing from a different phone worked perfectly. So, my phone is incompatible (Radio Shack / Sprint, model SP9-04 (http://support.radioshack.com/support_phones/46196.htm). Basically, the Motorola MTA does not "hear" the phone dialing correctly, so the call never goes through. |
