Haven't used the phone all day. Went to use it no dail tone, (once again) logged into my router setup page, saw i had the new 1.50 firmware. But then saw SEIZED. Called CS about 3 times, using a cell phone, so i lose signal in the middle of things, i've tried hard boot, i've tried resetting router, anyone have any ideas why my line could be seized.

seized = phone off hook/ line shorted but not engaged in a phone call. Unplug any phones & household wiring you have from the RTP300/WRTP54G and try it with a single phone.

No go.

Turned everything off, went to get some food, came back, hooked up a wired phone, booted everything back on. Still no dail tone, line still seized. I have the WRTP54G, the Phone light just blinks on/off.

But when my stuff was booting back up, i did hear the phone clicking like it did have a dail tone, but then nothing.

Sounds like you've got a physical problem with the adapter. You could try a factory reset (hold down the reset button on the back of the router for 5+ seconds)... if that fails, you'll need to call up Vonage and have them switch you over to Port 2.

Ok, called CS again, got them to switch to Port 2. About that time my cell phone cuts off (yeah again). Anyway 30mins later login to router setup, phone is on line2, but still seized, and no dail tone. The phone light stopped blinking and is solid now. If i pick up the phone the light does start blinking. I tried all the reboot again too.

.. all this technology and cell phones still drop signal ..

Thinking about switching back to the old router, to see if its my router w/ the problem, but when i switched to my current one, i also had problems w/ losing my dail tone too.

Any ideas?

Could you try the following?

Power off the RTP300. Unplug all phones & phone wiring from it. Power it back up... and after a minute or so, log onto it... does it still show seized? is the Phone light blinking?

if it does, try to upload old firmware to your router. I forget which thread has it, but one of the firmware threads on the forum has a link to the firmware AND instructions on how to get your router to take it. Once you've done this, power off the router....then power it back up... The router should power up initially with the new (old) firmware you uploaded. You'll only have a brief window to see if it works, so try picking up the phone as soon as you've powered up and wait for the Phone light to come on... once it does, see if it works. As soon as you hang up, it's going to automatically download the latest firmware from Vonage (1.00.50).

Since your router worked fine prior to the firmware update, I'm thinking that the new firmware didn't download/initialize properly, so the above steps will cause it to redownload the firmware and re-update itself, hopefully properly. If it does work fine when you go back to 1.00.45 (or other old version) and stops working when 1.00.50 comes down again, we found the problem, and you'll need to call up Vonage tech support and complain to them that the new firmware caused the problem.

OK
Downgraded to .37, and yes after reboot i got a dail tone, but then it dl'ed the .50 and i'm seized again. Do just call Vonage and tell them not to upgrade me, or is there another way?

Thank you VonageTPA

Yep, you'll need to call Vonage tech support. When you get someone, ask to speak with "Advanced Service" if they try to route your call further, tell them it's regarding firmware. It's important that Vonage hears about these problems so that they can be addressed in future firmware versions. They'll be able to give you whichever firmware version works well for you, and hopefully will work with you to get the current version (and future revisions) to work without a problem.
