Hello all, I just got my RTP300 and Vonage is activated and working fine, for now. My question is this: I have 2 computers on my network and also own and was using a LINKYSY BEFSR41- 4 port wired router for my network set up, so should I just connect everything now to the RTP 300 and forget about needing the LINKSYS BEFSR41, or are there added benefits of have my computers connected to the BEFSR41 and connecting the RTP 300 to one of the Ports? By added benefits I mean is it more secure having the 2 routers or is it just as safe with just using the RTP 300 and eliminating the BEFSR41 as far as FIREWALLS and security go? |

It won't hurt to either leave it or remove it. It adds another layer on your network but it just depends on your network topology as to whether that actually benefits you, harms you or does nothing. If you've put a lot of time into setting up and customizing your network you probably don't want to much that up, but if you don't need duplicate devices running then you could just pack up the other Linksys router and plug everything into the RTP300. |
