okay, here we go . . .

I ordered Vonage online, but never received my adapter from them (The Post Office Lost it). I went out and bought a Linksys PAP2 and registered the new MAC with Vonage. I can hook it directly to my Motorola Cable modem via a crossover cable and it my Vonage works GREAT! However, when I try to network it through my computer, it's a NO GO! I have a motherboard with a built in NIC card (Nvidia Board), I have PCI NIC card in my computer hooked to my Cable modem, I have my Voange adapter hooked to the onboard Nvidia NIC card through a Crossover cable. How can I get my adapter online with this setup? I've tried changing IP addresses, etc... but nothing works. I've tried opening ports, posrt forwarding, etc... maybe I'm not doing something right, can anyone help???? Rick . . . Thank you for any help you can give.

You need to setup Internet Connection Sharring. Assuming you are using Windows XP, Go into Network Connections. Right click on the Local area connection (for the nic card connected to the cable modem) Properties -> Advance tab.. and I believe here you can enable internet connection sharing.. ie..it says..enable this connection to be shared.

This should work. I myself have experimented with your particular setup and it work great for me.

But the thing is with this setup, your Vonage wont work if your computer is turned off. So if you dont like that idea... I'd go back to going Modem -> Vonage Adaptor -> Your PC.

Hope that helped.

I've already tried that. I leave my PC on all of the time anyways, so that isn't a problem. The problem really is that the United States Postal Service lost my Vonage adapter. The NIC isn't able to "talk" to the PAP2 for some reason, can anyone tell me why?

You need to use what's called a "crossover" cable or throw a hub inbetween them. Some of the pairs are reversed in a crossover cable, as posted in the link below. Unlike the other Vonage adapters currently in use (other than the Cisco ATA), the PAP2 is a Cat 5 device and lacks any hub/switch/router capabilities. Because of this, it's expecting to be connected to a hub/switch/router and not another device.

I use my RTP300 with my laptop (using the laptop's wireless as the internet connection source and the laptop's Ethernet port to feed the RTP300), but have to use a crossover cable for it to work.

I said in the first part that I'm using a crossover cable.

Does ICS work for another computer instead of the Vonage adapter? Also, is it possible that traffic is being blocked by a firewall running on the Windows box?

Thanks for all of the help! Apparently, I changed the IP Address of my Vonage adapter to match my Networks, but it never took. I've re-adjusted my settings accordingly, and everything is working.
