Post subject: dish network and vonage..
My friend at work has the dish network reciver 522, is there any way of getting this to work with
Vonage
? I know my TIVO i can change the way the phone dials out, but i think for Dish Network, you cannot do this....

Post subject: Fax machine and DishNetwork PVR501 success
I finally broke down and added a fax line to my
Vonage
account (+$9.99/month) so that I could fax from home. My fax machine (Brother MFC420CN) worked without a problem using the RCA Wireless Phone Jack System. I decided to try my DishNetwork 501 series receiver and it worked also.
My guess is that the fax line quality must be much better than the regular voice line. I suspect that using the RCA wireless jack throttled the modem speed to 9600. I will run a network monitor on my LAN to check the saturation (some day).
So at about $37/month is still 1/2 the price of SWB POTS line.
Good luck.

Actually I've had no problems with my Dish 508's since I changed the settings to have a prefix code *99 and set wireless jack option. Thats using
Vonage
service set at medium quality.
I haven't checked today since last night I had to set my
Vonage
down to 30k because Comcast doesn't guarantee any speed on upload. I've had my 6mbit internet not be able to handle 56k upload speeds.
Good luck
James
