(Also... not to sure if this is related but I when the router is connected ..all connections are dropped randomly (since I recieved the router)... is this normal?)
I originally thought the source of the crashing was a software fault with windows… I reinstalled (fresh) win XP and updated my Bios but the problem reoccurred.
I then thought it was cabling or or my Network Card…. So I tried taking my laptop into work and connected it to my work network and all was ok.
I then, one by one started removing/changing each of my network components… e.g. ADSL Modem and Switch etc…. During this procedure I found that when the Linksys RT31P2 was removed my Laptop worked ok.
I connected the RT31P2 to a friends laptop (on its own…it didn’t crash but it did take ages for the configuration web pages to load) and I tried changing some settings… like Qos etc but the problem reoccurred when It was reconnected to the network.
This problem only seems to effect my Laptop.
I’ve contacted customer care via email but I haven’t had a reply yet.
Is there anything I can do to solve this as I can’t use my Vonage Service?
Thanks loads,
Shay

Is your laptop connected directly to the RT31P2 or is it just part of the network? If it's connected directly, I'd first try putting a hub or switch in between. Describe your network setup.
Mine was also randomly dropping connections so I had it exchanged for an RTP300 which seems to have solved the problem. There are some minor glitches with the RTP300 but overall, I think it's still a better product.

It would be a help if you could give a description of your set up. |
