I've noticed that Vonage have given some normal numbers to 13 area codes eg: Cambridge (01223) 655299 , Inverness (01463) 216599 etc. wondered what the benefit of this was when the universal number is *123
There's always been the alternate number : London (020) 71019400 to use when remote accessing voicemail from a non Vonage phone.
Also somewhere previously there was a mention of changing the *123 to 1571 when accessing voicemail, just wondered if there was an update on this?
The voicemail system allows you to deposit a message in another users voicemail box by "entering their number" however you can't enter their number as normal to do this. If for example you wanted to leave a message for 01158226633 or 01632899899 it gets rejected, you have to do it as 441158226633 or 441632899899. |

Very good point!
FreeTalk who have just launched use 1571 for voicemail retrievel and to access voicemail remotely you simply dial your own number and hit *, much better then having to remember yet another number.
Are Vonage looking at 1571 for voicemail? |

You may be interested to know you can ring your own number and when the Voicemail service answers press * with Vonage. At least I can. |

Me too, excellent news. Much easier than local access numbers, although possibly more expensive if dialling from out of the area. |

I did not realise this but have tried it and it works great.
Maybe Vonage should advertise this a little better, I thought originally you had no option but to use the remote access number which I could never remember.
Its nice to have both options to allow you to retrieve voicemail remotely over the phone if you don't want to disturb everyone in the house but I do think Vonage are missing out not shouting about it! |
