Icab,

Yeah, I did actually figure out that I bcan VPN to my office, as long as I do not have a DMZ host enabled on the RTP300. If you enable a DMZ host in the RTP300's setup, you will likely not be able to get your VPN client to work.

Do you have DMZ enabled? Or any other port ranges forwarded somewhere in the RTP300? Port forwarding, oddly enough, can also screw with VPN'ing through the RTP.

Thanks,

Russ

Thanks for the reply, Russ.

No, DMZ was left disabled. I tried enabling for my machine, but that didn't go through either. I haven't set up any port forwarding yet. *sigh*

The best part, Vonage just fired all their advanced services folks, SOOOO there is no one there to support it.

I got an email from a rep saying she was "going to training for VPN" and would get back to me in the next month with a VPN resolution.

idiots

Hi.

After having my older Linksys router replaced with a Linksys RTP300, I could no longer connect to my office's VPN.

After days of bounced calls between Vonage (who insisted that it's not their problem, it's Linksys, thank you very much Vonage Mad ) and Linksys (who tried to help but unfortunately none of their suggestions helped), it seems like the following works for me.

1) Login to your router setup.
2) Under Application/Gaming, Port Range Forwarding, enter in separate lines:

VPN1: Start: 47 End: 47 Protocol: Both IP Address (enter the last part of the IP address of yours, e.g., 100).
VPN2: Start: 50 End: 50 Protocol: Both IP Address (enter yours).
VPN3: Start: 500 End: 500 Protocol: Both IP Address (enter yours).
VPN4: Start: 1723 End: 1723 Protocol: Both IP Address (enter yours).

Make sure you check the Enable boxes for all 4 lines. Save Settings.

3) Under Application/Gaming, DMZ, click Enable, then enter the same IP Address as above (e.g., 100). Save Settings.

Let the router recycle the setting and then restart the VPN....

This works for me. Good luck. Hopefully this can help you avoid the long waits and hours of desperate calls.

Currently my configuration is as follows:
- Windows XP SP2 (all the latest SPs) PC
- RTP300 (pretty much the default install with some port forwarding for ssh and http to a Linux box, Firmware 1.00.55)
- cable-modem

We use SonicWall for our VPN Solution and I haven't had any problems with my previous Voip, CallVantage, or Vonage.

FYI, I'm using SonicWall Global VPN Client 2.2.0.131

Was there some sort of news post about this or did you get this from this rep you spoke with?
