I figured this may need to be brought up again, as it seems people can STILL be confused about the 911 service...It was brought up again in a thread about discontinuing Vonage below.

If you have not done so, or have any confusions about the Vonage 911 service, the limitations it has, what E911 is, etc please call Vonage or read the Term of Service here...
http://www.vonage.com/features_terms_service.php?lid=footer_terms
You can also ask the forum members, Dan the website admin, or a Vonage representative...
Also, please make sure you have activated your 911 service... |

One other thing...
Dialing 933 from your Vonage phone will provide the status of 911 dialing for that line. Vonage recommends that you dial 933 periodically to check for updates, specifically for the availability of E911. |

Nice tip about 933. Just tried it. Thanks.
I believe enabling 911 is also tied to 311 (city/county non-emergency line; local government info) |

i had activated 911 when i signed up for Vonage 2 mths ago. today after reading here i tried 933
it said "911 is currently enabled on this phone , 911 call is routed to a national emergency respone center which will contact a emergency center near you... please do not dial 911...... blah blah"
does that mean i will go thru 2 hops before i have local emergency help.. i am in tampa..
any help/advice is appreicated |

I called 911 in South Jersey after calling the local 24 hour direct Police line. The same woman answered the phone. 911 in my area goes to the same place that it does for POTS lines. She did say that none of my personal info came up which means that we would have to provide it to them if we had to call. Figured it's not so bad to deal with for a few months until e911 is in place. |

We out here along the front range of the Rockies have had E911 for some time now. It is a pleasure and a relief to have. I hope that the rest of you guys get to see it real soon. |
