Is there anyway to configure the caller ID for your Vonage line? When I call other people from the Vonage line they see my Vonage telephone number in both the name and number fields of the caller ID. Except in the number field it's the 7 digit number and in the name field it shows the 10 digit number. Anyway to change this so a name actually appears? |

| Wikipedia Caller ID wrote: | | Caller ID is made up of two separate entities: the calling number and the billing (or subscriber) name. When a phone switch sends out a number, the remote telephone company is responsible for looking up the name of the subscriber in a common database. | Unfortunately Vonage does not currently supply names to that database. I have theorized previously that this is because of their use of third party companies to handle the number termination on the PSTN. I suspect that it is those companies who have the responsibility to supply the customer data to the database, unfortunately they are not likely to have this data. |

Our business has 3 SBC line (including our main incoming number) and 3 Vonage lines. Is it possible to configure the caller ID to show our main number or, at the very least, have all 3 Vonage lines show the same number? |

I wish they'd do outgoing caller ID right. |

Actually, I thought I *HAD* posted something there, but a quick review of my posts show's I posted another request there. I see where other people have requested it though, and one post indicated the E911 rollout might include it. Hope so!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the outgoing caller ID generated by the Voip terminal adapter itself? I could have sworn that I saw a place to fill in the # and display name in the hidden menus of the terminal adapters, but not sure. |

I do not think you are incorrect. SIP provides for a display name to be supplied with the address and that setting is most likely available in the adaptor or SoftPhone software. However, that information is lost once the call is switched to the PSTN. So, Vonage to Vonage calls would appear differently than Vonage to PSTN calls. |
