I just upgraded mine to something like 4.XX. It provides alot of updates. One of importance is the ability to setup QoS. This way you can set
Voip
traffic as higher priority and not lose any functionality or quality with
Vonage
.

I don't think you're talking about the same device.

I also have a WRTP54G, purchased a few months ago. My firmware version reads 1.00.52.
I'd love to find some sort of upgrade, as I have to restart my router about once a day to maintain anything resembling a stable connection. I can't describe my experience as very impressive with this unit, though so far
Vonage
has worked out pretty well.

I also bought the WRTP54G within a few months and have firmware version 1.00.52.
What's weird is receiving a recent e-mail from Linksys/Vonage requesting me to "upgrade my firmware". Gave a link that had an "upgrade" to version 1.00.37 (aka, a downgrade).
I chatted with Linksys tech support and they said not to downgrade (I didn't) but that
Vonage
was responsible for firmware for this router.
I went to vonage.com and they don't even have the WRTP54G listed as a "supported router" (it's obviously out-of-date).
For those who have firmware 1.00.3x firmware I have no idea why I have 1.00.52 or how you would upgrade to get to this. (I'm a techie with lots of Linksys router experience and this whole firmware thing for this router is very disconcerting).
Linksys/Vonage: Can we say passing the buck?

Well, many of my problems have been pretty recent. Up until the last week or so, I've been pretty happy with this router.
I think, maybe, that
Vonage
upgraded me to .52 recently. I didn't even know they did this, if that's what happened.
It seems to me, though I've not paid a lot of attention to be honest, that I wasn't running .52 before. And I certainly haven't upgraded it myself, since Linksys doesn't support the firmware on these units.
Here's hoping for a successful rollout of .54 or something to fix this soon. Rebooting this is causing some level of domestic unrest.

there are a couple multipage threads going on right now about firmware for this device, namely .55 which was supposed to come out a while ago. there is no buck passing,
Vonage
is responsible for the firmware, as stated in the manual (if the wrtp's come with one). the firmware is automatically updated.
I don't know where on vonage.com you went, but if you click products and services, it's right there. it's also listed in the help section, among other places. there probably are some pages that don't have it listed, but you can get to it right off of vonage.com in at least two places.

Sorry, wasn't trying to accuse anyone of passing the buck or starting a conspiracy theory about someone loading stuff onto my router. It's simply that I haven't been watching my router firmware version until just recently, because my router has worked perfectly up until this past week, when all heck seems to have broken loose on my router.
I'm sure the updates are part of my agreement, though it's a part I was unaware of. That's not a big deal - mea culpa, I didn't read something in the pages of agreement and now I know.
Hopefully, though, .55 or something will come out soon and fix some of these issues.
Caller ID isn't working, or takes so many rings to work that the call is about to go to voicemail before I get it. I have to restart the router daily, and sometimes several times a day, or my IM connections go into continual reconnect and things get hairy with my connection.
I can still make and get calls on
Vonage
, so that's good, but I depend on the rest of my Internet connection for work (I telecommute) and I'm coming close to bypassing the
Vonage
router or getting a second router to put in front of it so I don't have to restart the thing so often. It's primarily frustrating BECAUSE
Vonage
and the router have been really reliable up until recently, and I've been fighting it thinking I was doing something wrong.
Now if you'll excuse me, my IM has failed, and my wife is coming downstairs, no doubt to tell me that the connection is giving her fits again. Have to reboot the router again, 4th time in 3 hours this morning. Hope I can post this.
(EDIT: It posted after a few tries, but now that the router is rebooted all seems well for now).
