So is there any date in which the new firmware will be released?

I called for the firmware update (1.00.47) tonight ( 9-21-05), waited only 5 minutes for real person to come on phone, told them I wanted to update my firmware to the newest version...he siad ok and will call me back when it was completed....10 minutes later he called back, then I checked inside the setup screen and now have the 1.00.47 version.....was not very hard to do and didnt take very long. one thing I cant understand is why on the linksys site, for the rtp300 downloads, it is grayed out and will not let you get anything for this particular linksys router???

I also have and have used for years my linksys BEFSR41 wired 4 port router, and updating the firmaware on that is very easy and I have always done it from downloading from linksys site. guess you just gotta call Vonage customer support and ask for it to be sent to your rtp300 or wait till they eventually start sending it to all the rtp300 users out there.

The RTP300 (and RTP31P2 and PAP2) are supported by Vonage and other Voip providers. Because Linksys doesn't provide support for them to the general public, they don't make available any firmware updates directly from them. Often times, certain aspects of firmware are modified for a particular service provider. Linksys provides the modified version to Vonage and Vonage sends it to the customers.

Hmm... when I powered up my Vonage RTP300, it went through an auto-update and now has 1.00.50, no requests to tech support or anything to get it.

No such luck here.

I powered down the cable modem and both routers and did the normal staged delayed power up sequence starting with the cable modem.

When it was all done I still have 1.00.45 on the RTP300.

Same here, 1.00.50 installed itself without restarting the modems or routers this morning.

Me, too. It looks as if I skipped .47 altogether.

Well, for what it's worth, I called up and was on hold for Tech Support for about 15 minutes and when I got on, I told him I had the "Reverse Echo" problem and was wondering if he could send out the 1.00.47 update to my device. He said, "Done." I said "what?" and he said he just needed to confirm my info (name, last 4 of credit card number, etc.). He already had my info from Caller ID of my phone line. He asked if I needed anything else and I said no and we hung up. No sooner than we hung up, my RTP300 was blinking and rebooting and when I logged in, it was 1.00.47 (from 1.00.45). I made some test calls with the update and the Reverse Echo problem was GONE! I was quite impressed and so were the people I called! I had called my Dad previously with 1.00.45 and he said the Reverse Echo was quite annoying on his end, but this time with the new 1.00.47, he said it wasn't there anymore. However, there was something I noticed, for the first time, I heard "noise" on the line during my phone conversations. It was almost like a low rushing, "white noise" sound, that was very reminiscent of an old staticy phone line from 30 years ago. Nothing like the crystal clear digital clarity that Vonage is supposed to be. It's almost like the only way they could fix the "Reverse Echo" problem was change the voice encoding algorithm which resulted in higher noise or something. I don't know, but I know the noise was there with 1.00.47 and not with 1.00.45.

Now that 1.00.50 is out, I haven't tried it yet to see if the "Reverse Echo" problem is still fixed and also to see if the noise problem has been fixed.
