Post subject: Used adaptor and not working yet
Alright well I am a bit suprised and shocked right now. I just got my RTP300 router after waiting at least 12 days. My router is used no ifs ands or buts. This thing has scratches on it. Noticable use and the packaging had tears in it as if it were used and returned. This is shocking in itself, but the best thing about it is the dang thing isnt working. Im about to reset the thing to defaults, but the internet light constantly blinked for well over 10 minutes as I did what it wanted me to. I then decided to go ahead plug in my computer to see if it would let me pull up the default page, nothing, no internet anything. I then went and configured my computer to run DHCP since I do have it set for a specific LAN IP due to a server. This did not work either. I am more in shock they sent me something that if it was not used it was treated like ultimate sh** when being delivered. I mean I could understand some light things, but this is VERY VERY noticable use. There was a piece of hair caught in the tape liner for the linksys paperwork too. I mean COME ON!! Anyone who tries to tell me they would never do this would have to see this in person as I myself would think a company would not do this. Has anyone else had this experience??

So after resetting the router that came with scratches and paperwork with hair on it 5 times I finally got the thing to load up the default config page. I then went ahead and configured everything and made this into my full router and changed my existing router into a access point. I have phone service and everything, my question is this. Since I have this working would it be better to have something else running as the router, for instance the wireless

router you can buy at Best Buy or run my existing WRT54G router and make this just a phone adaptor. I am just curious as to how this thing runs when it comes to acting as a full router. I noticed the QoS settings on it are not like the WRT54g which allows for MAC address priority. This concerns me in this aspect as I did not see this in the RTP300. I preferred to run my router as a access point as it was in a bad spot and now I am able to run it in a better location by making the RTP300 my router. SHould I look into using something else as my router due to the limitations of the RTP300?
Thanks for the advice!
Chris
