PostPosted: Tue Sep 13, 2005 11:50 am    Post subject: Virtual Number Minutes Question. Reply with quote Back to top

Hi All,

Just a quick question about a virtual number. I assume that if I buy a Virtual Number in another area code; when that number is used to call me by someone in that area code, the minutes we talk will be deducted from my plan.

Is that correct, or do Virtual Numbers come with their own minutes or something?

Thanks!

Remember anytime someone calls you no matter if the person is calling your virtual or primary number, those are free minutes. Only out going calls (or incoming calls forwarded to another number) will use your 500 minutes (if under that plan)

What? Only outgoing calls count against my 500 minutes? I didn't know that - that's excellent.

Not to be a pain, but I didn't read that anywhere. Can you point me to the link that says that?

That's wonderful!

Ahh..I think there's an error there. The 500 plan only says Vonage to Vonage calls are free. The other plans say incoming and Vonage to Vonage are free.

So, back to my original question...do incoming call to my virtual number count against my minutes...?

Vonage is free incoming. Also free are calls to toll-free numbers, voice mail, and other Vonage customers. Outgoing minutes count to your 500 minutes.

I've spent awhile trying to find this on their website. I know its true. This is the closest I've found -> http://vonage.com/features.php?feature=call_forwarding (LAST PARAGRAPH)

That pretty much implies that only outgoing minutes are using the 500 minutes since it says that if you forward an incoming call it will be treated as an outgoing call (which thus uses yer 500 minutes).

They probably dont make this clear because they want customers to choose their unlimited plan.

Hi Djino,

Well, I called customer service just to make sure and you're right. Even though the 'free incoming calls' feature is conspicuously absent from the 500 minute page (at vonage.ca, anyhow), all incoming calls are free.

Including those calls made to a virtual number.

Thanks for the info - I was all worried that 500 minutes wouldn't be enough, but knowing that the incoming is free changes everything.

Thanks!
