Hello,

I have the 14.99 (500 minutes) plan. The plan time period was August 13-Sept 12. Yesterday night at 10:30pm I checked the remaining in-plan minutes and I had 66 minutes left.
Today new time period started. So I checked the available minutes and the remaining minutes were 451. I did not make any calls yesterday after 8:00 pm.

Does Vonage deduct minutes from the next time period if I over use minutes in my old time period?
Or
Can this be a Vonage mistake?

Thank you for all your help.

What about calls on Sept 12. I believe Vonage operates on GMT time which means that it's not necessarily at midnight in your time zone that Vonage ends the billing period.

When were all your calls made on 9/12. I bet there were calls which added up to 49 minutes which were after midnight GMT on 9/12. Take a look.

since he said "I did not make any calls yesterday after 8:00 pm." I assumed that wasn't the case, but it looks like, as far as eastern time, gmt is actually a 5 hour difference, which means any calls after 7pm would have counted too (again assumng eastern)

thanks Reebok for the time difference info. I'm still not 100% sure of the time differences but now that you clarified it with EST, then I assume then that with CST its a 6 hr difference and so on. Shahtech, I hope this helps you figure out which calls might have counted towards your next month's bill.

Hello Everyone,

Thanks for the time difference explanation. I am in NY and thus EST.

I definitely made call between 6:45 pm and 7:30 pm which might have counted towards the next plan minutes.

I was not sure on what time zone does Vonage operate.
But I am glad that Vonage did not charge me any over-usage minutes. They simply deducted my minutes from the next time period.

As always this board is very useful.

I have been a Vonage user for the past 6 months. I had some problems with voice quality and RF interference initially. I even ported my POTS line to Vonage 2 months ago.

Thank You,
Shahtech

Actually, NY is currently in EDT (Eastern Daylight Time) so this would be GMT -4 hours.

You might want to go back and look at your historical usage...could save you some money. I have the 500 minute plan and haven't gone over yet. I reviewed my phone bills prior to switching to Vonage and realized that 500 minutes was more than enough for me.

But the limited plan can still be cheaper even if you do go over. The difference between the 2 plans is $10, which would pay for an additional 256 minutes in the limited plan ($0.039 per minute). So as long as you initiate fewer than 756 minutes of calls per month (incoming calls are free, unlike a cell phone), the limited plan is cheaper.
