For the last 3 hours now, for some unknown reason, my RT31P2 router has both of the phone lights blinking "SOS" in Mores Code.
I've tried unplugging everything and power-cycling the router, I've tried resetting the modem to base configuration, nothing has worked.
I've also tried calling tech support but I get NOTHING when I reach the option for live tech support. No dial tones, no on-hold message, nothing.
Can ANYBODY help me figure out what is going on??? |

what's the power light doing? can you access the device at http://192.168.15.1 ? (password admin) if so, check what it says under the Status tab. |

Power light is solid. LAN lights are solid. Only the phone lights are blinking off and on. Can reach the web interface, tried resetting there no go.
FINALLY, after 12 hours, the tech support line started working again. Tech sez that its a problem with the router and they're going to ship me an updated one w/ 4-port LAN. Whee.
But I'm out of phone service all week because of it, probably. |

Since your RT31P2 is dead and you have no Vonage service, do you know if they shipped the new one Overnight?
There is some good news. You will be receiving the newer RTP300. It is a MUCH MUCH better device than the RT31P2. You will be happy with it (speaking from personal experience.) |

hey, great idea! *lol* I forgot to mention that in the middle of my call, the tech support guy dropped me. (oops).
Between not knowing what happened with the router, not being able to reach phone tech support overnight, no response via e-mail and having my tech support call dropped, I think that should be doable.
So, what makes the RTP300 better? |

There are several posts mentioning the RTP300 as far better than the RT31P2, but doing a search will be like reading almost all the latest posts.
One of the reasons is that the RTP300 is what Vonage is shipping as the default device. I was able to immediately tell the difference in call quality between the RTP300 and RT31P2. My RT31P2 was very good; I just didn't know what I was missing until I tried the RTP300. Yes, there are reports of some issues with the RTP300 (like anything else) and are being addressed via firmware.

Good luck! |

WOOT! New router shipped overnight. Shocked since I never even got a confirmation that they'd overnight it OR that it was even shipping at all. |
