I'm in the Kitchener/Waterloo area (519) but people who live across the street and within 5km have to dial long distance to reach me.

I know that Guelph and London also have the 519 area code, and that it's long distance to those numbers, is it possible that I received one of those numbers ? and can this be fixed and how.

Forgot to add that when I call them it's all local meaning that I only dial the 7 digits but they have to dial the 11 digits.

If you post the first three digits of telephone number, I can tell you where your phone number "lives".

You have a Guelph phone number. Perhaps you want a K/W number. It looks like Vonage has K/W numbers available now. They might have been out of them when you wanted one.

WoW expecting the normal long wait times and run around, I just called vonage.ca and they told me that I could to the number change right over the web through the billing options so I hang up and go to my account/billing. But when I tried to change my number I had to pay a $14.99 charge so I called them back and they said that they would waive the fee no problem and that it would be a pleasure for them to do it for me. It took about 3 minutes and there. I now have a K/W regional number now. Also both times I called I was not even on hold they answered right away, I mean the phone didn't even ring on their end. I never had that happen to me. Amazing service.

We also found out the mistake I did when doing the registration, when you goto chose the area code 519 it then ask you the region like Guelph K/W London and Region and not knowing any better I selected Region and it ended up giving me a Guelph number. I though that every call within the 519 area code was going to be local (stupid I know). Lesson learned.

just so you know, the way that Vonage works is that they treat all calls in your area code local, so you can dial any 519 number w/o the 1 or 519.. so you can even call Windsor with only 7 digits.. since there is no real Long Distance it doesn't matter to them where the call is going as long as it's within Can or USA.. Smile
