vonage pushes updates to the router. you can't change any settings on the router(s) to start or stop it. on the rt31p2, there were options similar to that, but they only affected the user if they wanted to upgrade the firmware. vonage can do it regardless of those settings. the only way to stop automatic firmware updates would be to put the vonage box behind a router and block port 69. |

From what I can tell the RTP300's are a little different than the previous RT31P2's in that the routers poll for new firmware on both http://vonage and tftp://vonage. The RTP300 routers phone home on boot up, every 30 minutes and every 24 hours. They check to see if their different than the current published version. If so they attempt to make themselves right. As if their living breathing things... LOL. |

Reebok already answered your question.
I would add that a reboot would usually speed up your getting the newer firmware. However, in my experience with my previous RT31P2, it would not regardless of what I did, including a hard reset to factory settings. I had to call Vonage CS and they successfully forced a firmware push. (I think it was 1.28 to 1.29 then; after that it got 1.30 all on its own without even a reboot from me)
With my new, 1-day old RTP300, it got 1.00.45 automatically from the very first time it went online after a few reboots on its own. ET knew how to call home. |

Problems with getting the RT31P2 routers to auto-accept new firmware versions is one of the reasons that Vonage switched to the RTP300's. |
