Post subject: RTP300 vs. RT31P2
I just got my RTP300 replacement for my RT31P2 about 1 hr. ago.
Set up: Cable Modem ->
Vonage
(no PCs) -> Wireless Router (wired + wireless PCs)
All power off. Removed RT31P2, put RTP300 in its place, booted in order. RTP300 rebooted and had solid phone1 LED on for about 1 minute, but decided to leave it alone a bit longer and sure enough rebooted itself one more time. Under 10 minutes from out of the box to making a phone call! Call quality is CRYSTAL CLEAR so far compared to the RT31P2 (was very good but had some humming noise, not static just like humming/whitenoise? Very seldom would have phone with RT31P2 but no net, or vice-versa. After a storm, RT31P2 would have solid phone LED, dialtone OK, but can't place calls.) No echo whatsoever on RTP300; not on my side or person I called or called me.
MSN Messenger video conference and phone at same time... rock solid so far.
RTP300 firmware is at 1.00.45 provisioned from 1st time online. ALL default settings (except pswd).
RT31P2 was at 1.30 firmware and had "E" serial number.
So far the RTP300 is MUCH, MUCH better than the RT31P2 in my experience. I would give the RT31P2 a 8.5, and the RTP300 9 out of 10 in the short time that I've had the RTP300.
Fingers crossed... If nothing changes in the next 3,000 call minutes (put on the RT31P2 in about 2 months), the RTP300 would be getting a 10 from me!

I would imagine since I bought my RT31P2 at BestBuy if I wanted the RTP300 I would have to purchase that unit as well? Or can I trade my RT31P2 in somehow?

Well as far as I know the RTP300 is not available for retail purchase yet...Unless that has changed within the past few days.
I have heard of someone getting it traded through
Vonage
saying that the 1 year warranty was a
Vonage
issued, not Linksys issued. Good luck on that one, but supposedly it has been done.

I forgot to add that
Vonage
CS came through on this one and deserves a 10.
Yes, we complain about the lengthy hold times, sometimes getting disconnected by tier1, we sometimes know more than they do (given access to?), etc., but the guy in India who helped me out did a very good job. (he went through all the annoying troubleshooting details that I had already done and described, but he was doing his job!)
Placed call on Thu., order placed same day as Overnight delivery, missed the cut off time on Thu. (am told it's 3pm Eastern?), shipped on Fri., was delivered on Sat. afternoon via DHL Overnight with signature required. Fantastic service! Another happy customer and evangelist... I don't miss you MCI -- and I'm not sorry!
I have to thank those here, who before me, went through the troubleshooting of the RTP300, new firmware rev's and bugs, and were able to recommend the RTP300.

Trowski, for not telling me about those flashing blue LEDs on the RTP300, you deserve it!
They have not grown on me yet, albeit I do like the Disco 80's!

My gripe about the blue LEDs on the RTP300 is that they're too darn bright! I don't mind blue LEDs (actually I rather like them), but these are blinding and illuminate the whole room at night when the lights are off. On a positive note, at least I can see them. The LEDs on the Linksys WRT54GS & RT31P2 were rather wimpy and weren't easily visible.

Hi! May I ask, under what conditions did
