Hello all,
I have looked everywhere for help on this and no one (not even Vonage) knows what the problem is. Let me tell you my situation. I have cable internet, so I have my ethernet wire going from my modem to my SMC Barricade router in slot 1. I then have one ethernet wire going from my router to my computer and one going from my router to my Vonage Linksys PAP2 adapter. Now my cable works fine and my internet works fine, howevr my phone does not work. The power light is solidly lit, however my ethernet light has been flashing for hours (like 10 hours now). Having the power led solidly lit is a breakthrough because before none of the lights were solidly lit. I have tried hooking up the Vonage adapter right to my cable modem but after a day of constant flashing that did not seem to work. It was my understandign that it shoudl only take 5-10 minutes for the phone to be useable but this adapter does not want to seem to work. Also I have my phone hooked up to the phone 1 slot and that lhas not lit up once. I was jsut wondering if anyone else had this problem or know what I am doign wrong cause this is getting retarded. Thanks |

jmjoseph,
I don't use the pap2 so I cannot speak from experience. However, if it works anything like the other phone adapters, there needs to be some tweaking.
First off, it's not like the RT31P2 or the new RTP300 because it is purely a phone adapter, not a router/phone adapter combo. So connecting it directly to a cable modem, I think, will not work. It needs a router in front of it.
Second, I believe that you will need to make some adjustments to the SMC barricade router. Go to Vonage.com and see what ports need to be forwarded. I know that this info is readily available in the help section of the website. You will then want to make those adjustments in the SMC barricade configuration.
Let's see if that fixes things. Hope this works. |
