Since so many people on this forum seem to have the phone and since this is where I got the recommendation to get the phone I figured I would ask a question here.
I just replaced another phone that when someone with an entry in the phonebook called the name that I stored in the phonebook would show and would override the Caller ID. Their Number, the name I stored, etc.
Now with this phone, it seems that no matter what I have in the phonebook it still shows the caller id name. Kind of a pain for a lot of people don't show up, only their number does.
Any ideas? Am I missing something? Does this phone not work this way?
Thanks

I have a Uniden Tru88xx. Caller ID is not customizable (even if someone is already in your phonebook). It's whatever the callers are registered as and Vonage sends that shows up on your caller ID. If no name and just number, then the number only shows up. You're not missing anyhthing; works as designed.
I believe you can customize rings with the Uniden. I haven't tried it with Vonage yet. |

I forgot to add that this (Customizable Caller ID) is not specific to Vonage. Same with POTS.
This is an excellent phone. You will be very happy with it. I've had the Uniden Tru8885 (3 handsets on 2 floors) for over 2-3 yrs and way before I moved my POTS over to Vonage. Rock solid either way, even outside by the pool with Vonage. I use the built-in speakerphone (duplex) on the handsets almost exclusively and calls are crystal clear. I've owned Panasonic, Motorola, Sony, AT&T, Vtech cordless phones before and this Uniden is my favorite. (I was very skeptic when I bought it since I thought Uniden would be of less quality than the other brands, but boy was I so mistaken!)
I also conduct business conference calls on it, some for 2-3 hrs using the hands-free speakerphone in the handset. Love it. |

Yeah.. Seems like a good phone, just figured it was a basic feature of all phones. Guess that's what I get for just assuming. I replaced a Siemens Giagset 8825 multi line system with this. While I had no problems at all with the Siemens I couldn't get an extra handset for less than $100 it seemed. I just sold my phone on eBay for more than I paid for it 3 years ago. Strangest thing.
