I have followed the instructions for repeat dialing. It doesnt seem to work for me. I thought I read a post that it might be dependent on E911 features in my area?
Any thoughts on why it woudlnt work for me? Thanks. |

Repeat dialing depends on a few things...
1) which adapter do you have? The Linksys PAP2/RT31P2 require that you hang up after hearing the busy signal, then pick up the phone & dial #5, then hang up again. The Cisco ATA/ Motorola VT / Linksys WRTP54G & Linksys RTP300 allow you to dial #5 when you hear the busy signal and then hang up when the busy signal has changed to a steady tone or dial tone.
Occasionally, a line might "ring busy" but it's a 3rd party carrier that's providing a busy signal and isn't sending the busy status to Vonage, and at this point the voice adapter has no idea that the line's really busy. I've only seen this happen once or twice and it was in New Orleans during Katrina. |

Thanks very much. There appears to be a delay in how quickly Vonage redials a busy number. I tested and it was almost 10 minutes in 2 cases. So I think I was doing it correctly, but not waiting. |

I don't know the exact timing of it (would love to), but I have seen it respond as fast as 30 seconds from the time I entered the Repeat Dial code |

What would be nice is if there was some sort of notification that it was set. With my POTS service, Verizon, you'd get a recording stating it was set, it would try for 30 minutes, etc. Even a beep of some sort would be nice. You don't get anything when you set it but it does work |

Voip is definitely going to take off. Some of my friends here have made me realize that numbers will soon be a thing of the past and many new features are on the horizon. I wonder if there will ever be a standard for the features on the adapters. Some organization should put something together because this thing is going to explode. (Isn't it amazing that a major portion of your "phone company" is in that little adapter connected to your network?)
Of course I am just learning. There is probably some standard out there, but if there is that much difference in adapaters then someobody isn't listening. And that comment is pointed at the adpater manufacturers and not the Voip providers.
If Vonage further tied down the adpaters for compatibility then more people would complain about not being able to use this or that adapter. The Voip provider can't win. |
