Post subject: Virtual numbers
I am currently a
Vonage
subscriber ony my main telephone.
I currently have a "dummy" number with a POTS provider. The number merely forwards to a cell phone and doesn't have a handset or line.
I would like to transfer the number to
Vonage
. I understand that I can add virtual numbers to my existing account. I also understant that virtual numbers forward to my main number/line.
Is it possible to make this virtual number to forward to another number? If not, then is it possible to use the Call Forward feature on my current account, to divert all calls coming from the virtual number to another non-Vonage number?

My friend just tried this and it did not work for him. He got a virtual number in Amarillo, TX and his main number it registered with a Dallas, TX area code. He forwarded his main number to his cell phone and called from another line his virtual number. His call to the virtual number went to voicemail.
Vonage
told him that virtual numbers can only call another
Vonage
number. He cancelled the virtual number and
Vonage
gave him a credit. I would call
Vonage
to make sure.

Thank you for contacting customer care.
You can actually set up the call forward feature and have calls
forwarded from any numbers on your account to any number that you like.

Post subject: Confirmation of forwarding ability for virtual numbers?
I just wanted to confirm what's been discussed in this topic. It is possible to configure virtual numbers to forward to any number of your choosing vs having them routed to your main
Vonage
number. Correct?
Thanks for your response!

Virtual numbers are routed ONLY to your
Vonage
number.
But you can configure your main
Vonage
number to ANY number via call forwarding feature. (but if you are on 500 minute plan then
Vonage
will deduct the call duration from your 500 minutes)
