Vonage recommends a minimum of 90 kbps upload speed for acceptable quality calls.
The actual answer is that Vonage allows you to choose 1 of three algorithms that have different bandwidth requirements. Vonage estimates that 30 kbps is required for "normal", 50 for "better" and 90 for "best".
The actual amount of bandwidth used for an entire call will be less than the maximum amount needed as no traffic is sent when there is no noise coming from your end. Additionally the packets during active times will not always reach the maximum bandwidth. |

this are my testing results:
Download 133,928 bps Upload 201,704 bps QOS 4% RTT 191 ms MaxPause 3304 ms
Vonage Voip Analysis Given your current Internet speeds, we estimate that your Internet connection can support a maximum of 1 simultaneous high quality Vonage® Voip connections.
It says my speed is 201 Kbps, but it says i can only have one Voip connection, so i don't understand because Vonage recommend 90 for "best". So 2 lines = 180 Kbps |

What type of connection do you have and who is your ISP?
Those numbers do not look good. That is why it says that you can only support one connection. |

It is your download speed of 133,928. You need 90 both directions. The speed test only requires 75 per line.
For those of you who read Javascript:
| Code: | function mss(dspeed,uspeed,qos,rtt,maxpause) { // MySpeed Results document.getElementById('DSPEED').innerHTML = addCommas(dspeed)+" bps"; document.getElementById('USPEED').innerHTML = addCommas(uspeed)+" bps"; document.getElementById('QOS').innerHTML = qos+"%"; document.getElementById('RTT').innerHTML = rtt+" ms" document.getElementById('MAXPAUSE').innerHTML = maxpause+" ms"; // Voip Analysis var voipspeed = Math.min(uspeed,dspeed); var num = Math.floor(voipspeed/75000); var color = (num<=2) ? "red" : "blue"; document.getElementById('VOIPANALYSIS').innerHTML = '<font color="'+color+'">Given your current Internet speeds, we estimate that your Internet connection' +' can support a maximum of <tt><b>'+num+'</b></tt> simultaneous high quality Vonage® Voip connections.</font>' ; } |
But with those test results a single line wouldn't work (QOS 4%). Were you on the phone when you ran that test? |

Hi, i'm in Peru and use a ADSL connection, my provider is Telefonica. My plan is this one: Speedy: download: 600Kbps / upload: 256Kbps http://www.speedy.com.pe/hogarsp_mod600.shtml

Yes, i was on the phone, these are the new results without using it: Download 308,848 bps Upload 127,408 bps QOS 34% RTT 143 ms MaxPause 691 ms "Given your current Internet speeds, we estimate that your Internet connection can support a maximum of 1 simultaneous high quality Vonage® Voip connections. "
How much should i have on the Download or Upload result to have 2 simultaneous Voip connections?
Thanks |

According to the test you need a minimum of 150kbps up and 150kbps down for two Voip lines. According to Vonage you need 180 in both directions for recommended call quality.
Your test results are very odd. Do you have good quality on your existing Vonage line? What quality setting do you use?
Based on your the information in your posts I would expect that your connection could support a second Vonage line. Worst case scenario is that you would have to run one or both lines at a reduced quality setting. |
