your connection basically ****. it looks similar to people who have issues with the pcx1xxx series, though I have never seen anyone on roadrunner whose problem was the pcx (since roadrunner fixed the issue with those modems and no other isps did). I would call rr and have them check your signal levels, though I suspect they're fine. after that, run
www.pingplotter.com
for an extended period of time to try to find where the packet loss is occuring.

Thanks, I kind of figured that might be the problem. Now to try and convince Roadrunner.

that's the point of running pingplotter. show them it's happening and where. whether they can or will do anything about it is iffy, but it takes the burden of proof off of you.

Hey Grackle,
I'm in G'boro area also with Time Warner, and have the same router as you. I was having some of the same problems over the past month or so, and disabled my UPnP in the router and if fixed a LOT of the problems I was having. No more dropped calls, and the sound quality improved for some reason. Don't know why UPnP would fix the sound quality though....But it is better now.
Also, I just noticed that in the past day or two, my router has been upgraded to version 1.30.00.
Anyone know what 1.30 fixes????
See ya!

Oh yeah...Also, get rid of the PCX1000. Even though Time Warner fixed a lot of issues for this in our area, it still has lots of problems. See if you can get the PCX2600. That one works great for me. I had to request it when I took my old PCX1000 into their office for an "upgrade". Otherwise, they will try to give you the old RCA one, which also has issues.

Thanks for the replies. Time Warner came out today and replaced my PCX1000 with a PCX 2500. So far, so good.
