I did a search to see if anybody else is experiencing this, but I don't see it. Have a Linksys RT31P2, have not changed anything on the setup. Just the last few days, when I place a call, the outgoing ring will "warble" or distort. So far the calls are still going through, but I think there may have been an accompanying degredation of sound quality as well. More and more calls I'm placing are experiencing this new, odd ringtone.
Anybody else have anything like this going on? It is present on both our lines and two different phone sets (Panasonic and Motorola.)
TIA,

Reebok:
These aren't beeps. It's like your phone would sound if it was ringing underwater, I think?

I have had it for some time now, but then again, I get it on my cell phone too. |

I had a weird incoming ring but that turned out to be the firmware fer. 1.29. It also destroyed two caller ID units.
But then I get fer 1.30 and yes I have the outgoing ring that is now weird as you describe.
Just some engineers pushing updates before fully testing them is what it boils down to. Using and upgrading computers for 15 years, I have seen it many times. |

I've been getting this for about 4 days with my RT31P2. Just checked and my firmware is still at 1.28.00.

I been having the same issue now for several weeks where every almost other outbound call will have the strange sounding outbound ring tone, but with no noticible audio degradation of the actual call itself...Nice to know I'm not the only one.. |

I have had the same warble outgoing ring tone for the past 2 weeks now on my RT31P2. Have called Vonage several times about this, I finally got them to replace my adaptor. Asked for an older Moto VT100 adaptor and they sent me one! Thanks Vonage!
BTW the weird warble ring tone is gone now, no problems, and I'm a happy camper now. I'm sticking with Moto. |

Oh, and another thing that's been happening lately, starting about the same time -- I hear a "scratching" noise, about 1 second long. Kind of sounds like scratching a record.
Other than that I haven't noticed sound quality degrading.
