Location:
Tallahassee Fl

ISP:
Comcast

Upload Speed:
105 Mbps

Download Speed:
540 Kbps

Modem:
Motorola SBJ5100

Phone Adapter:
RPT300

Router:
Linksys BFSR41

Modem - BFSR41 - RPT300 - Phone

I have been unable to get the phone light to come on or get a dial tone. I removed the BFSR41 router and plugged directly into the RPT300. With this configuration the phone light came on but I had no internet service. I did not check for a dial tone with this configuration.

first , your upload speed appears to be quite low to support Vonage. Vonage needs about 112K upload to support itself. try upping your upload speed and if you do please be sure to reboot your modem and the phone adapter.

Well, first I would try lowering the bandwidth saver to 30 kbps I believe, whichever is the lowest setting.
Try that first and see what you get. If you are sharing a connection with other computers etc with that as an upload speed then yes, you need a bigger UL pipe.

I tested the speed again a moment ago the results:

upload: 274 Mb ps

Download: 965 Kb ps

Also after taking out the BEFSR41 router and just using the RPT300 I have a phone light, dial tone and i'm able to call out. Voice is very clear, i'm also able to recieve calls as well but I'm not able to access the internet. I put the BEFSR41 back and I get internet but no phone light or dial tone.

wow...you must have one hellavua ISP with 105m U/L. that most likely is 105k. try putting your router after the phone adapter.

modem>>>>phone adapter>>>>your router>

My mistake...i did not read the results of the test correctly.

Download 965,792 bps
Upload 233,013,888 bps
QOS 49%
RTT 69 ms
MaxPause 265 ms

are these rates ok?

try this also www.testyourvoip.com with a test call to Boston, and if you could pasted the DETAILED results here that would be good also...

Quick idea, can he set up the RTP300 statically to the IP address of the BFSR41

your upload @233k is
boardline for
vonage to function without a whole host of problems. If one person is the phone at the same time your internet is being used your QOS will be questionable. Try a min. of 300K U/L and you be be very satisfied with the service..
