Post subject: Linksys RTP300 Problems!
Does anyone besides me need to reboot their router every day in order to have the phone work?!!!
The Firmware has just been updated to v1.045 & that did nothing to resolve to issue.
Obviously this is a known issue because when you call support it’s on the recording, but I find this very troublesome having to check the link light 20 times a day to make sure I phone service, since it's my primary phone & I can’t afford to miss calls.

Hmmm... I have had the RTP for about 3 weeks now, and I have only had a couple of occasions that it seemed to lose dialtone for no known reason. I am also at 1.00.45. I've generally been happy with its performance so far...

Not sure why? Comcast is my ISP as well & this is my fifth day having
Vonage
and I would like to keep it but this is a big problem!
I don't mind rebooting once in a while, Heck I am Windows user.lol

I'd suggest checking your internet connection. I've had the RTP300 for as long as
Vonage
has been using them & never had a loss-of-dialtone nor missed call issues with it. Keep in mind that you will lose dialtone if the router's not able to establish a connectin with
Vonage
, and it does periodically check to make sure that it does have a signal. When browsing the web, you're only making a momentary connection, while with
Voip
, you need a steady connection.

I've had my RTP300 for about 3 weeks now. I've had one loss of dial tone incident. That's not too bad, but I have decided that I'll need to give my wife some instructions for re-booting the router.

Guys, seriously, check out your internet connections. I highly doubt that I have the "golden" RTP300 that never craps out. Currently have placed over 1500 phone calls on this RTP300 and 0 "no dialtone" issues. The only time it's ever been rebooted is when
Vonage
sends a firmware update down and the router reboots itself after installing it, otherwise it sits in the utility closet & keeps on doing its job.

Anyone know of a Utility that I can use for watching when router connections are broken or something similar to Event Viewer for connectivity to log the event, I can't think of anything the moment.

I have to agree with TPA...this thing is rock solid, unless you happened to get a bum one, but there seems like something else if causing your problem...I have not had to reboot mine except for one time since I got it, and the one time I did was yesterday becuase of a firmware update and I was a basically unaware it was being pushed.

Assuming for the moment that interruptions in the internet service cause the dial tone problem, I would ask whether the unit is supposed to re-acquire automatically when the interruption is over. The one time that I lost service, the RTP300 just sat there until I re-booted it manually. At that time, the internet service was solid.

I've had the RTP300 for about 2 weeks now. Yesterday, for the first time, it lost dialtone. I actually didn't notice until today. I'm not sure if there was an Internet outage at the time or not. However, I used the RTP300 as an Internet router since then and it worked fine. Once I unplugged it and plugged it back in today, my firmware was updated and I had dialtone again.
So, my guess is as follows. If there is an interruption in the Internet service, it will automatically reconnect to the Internet, but it will not automatically re-establish the phone connection. If true, I hope they can fix this in a later firmware release.
