Trowski, did you try this yet?
Anyone else want to give this a shot? This is a big deal if you want stable phone calls without thinking about whether or not you are doing a big upload.
I was doing an upload while my wife was on the phone. Boy did I learn my lessson.

My
Vonage
tech contact tells me that the echo fix should be in this weekend's firmware upgrade.
Of course, that's what he told me last week...

Ok, this is what I did...
I called a guy in Dallas and asked him to let me know what he thought of the sound. I zipped up 24 mps's into a 486 mbps file, and started uploading it to yousendit.com. At the same time I have yahoo and MSN messenger going, my database connected with an ICA connection, 3 windows open and Outlook open.
I continually spoke to him for about 1.5 mins and asked him what he heard, how I sounded etc...
He said at times I sounded a little muffled and occasionally he heard a pop or two, but over all he said it was not bad enough to really make that much of a difference....
Anything I did wrong or could have done differently?

What did your Windows XP bandwidth show while you were talking on the phone and uploading?

Ok, same situation. This time the call was to downtown Boston to a friend of mine.
With the bandwidth meter up, it wavered between .83-.88 of network utilization. While I was speaking to my friend up there who is by no means technologically savy, he said occasionally it would sounds scratchy on certain letters, like "s" for example. He said by no means was it bad, but his overall impression was like "the difference between analog and digital things."

I just talked to my DH at work - he's at SBC & even though its a phone company, they are cheap & his phone is about 15 years old. Anyway, he tells me that he hears his own voice in an echo, but its sporatic & only on certain sounds (didn't say which though). On my end, I do not hear any echo. So the
Vonage
bandwidth saver helped but didn't solve the problem. Sure hope this new firmware works a miracle!

I've personally tested 1.00.47 it seemed to get rid of the echo... Keep your fingers crossed about a push this weekend.
